After years of attending, of parking in “your” spot and leaving your children in the care of people they know and who know them, it can be difficult to see the cracks in the guest experience at your church. You may not even know where to start. Secret Worship can help!

As a church staff member, it can be hard to recall the first time you stepped into your church … the overwhelming feeling of wanting to be seen but invisible at the same time, the awkward moment you realized you needed a bathroom but didn't see any signs for one, the uncertainty of checking your child into the appropriate room. After years of attending, of parking in “your” spot and leaving your children in the care of people they know and who know them, it can be difficult to see the cracks in the guest experience at your church. You may not even know where to start. Secret Worship can help!  Where Secret Worship comes in:

At Fishhook, we believe that facts are friends. We help churches get to the facts by assessing the experience they offer for guests. We call this assessment Secret Worship: a structured evaluation of the primary parts of a newcomer's experience as observed by a first-time guest or from the perspective of a first-time guest. This experience includes the website, parking, facilities/signage, guest services, children/youth ministry and the worship service.

Why it works:

We all have room to grow. While it can be challenging for current staff or congregation members to accurately evaluate what it's like to be a visitor in their community, we believe that with fresh perspectives and tangible data new insights can be uncovered. This information can be used to determine areas that need improvement or might benefit from additional training. It's also a great opportunity to confirm some of the unique and positive qualities of each church.
