Maximizing Your Team Project Management – the organization and processes that help your team get things done efficiently and effectively.

Welcome to Part 3 of our four part series on Maximizing Your Team. If you are just joining us we would love for you to also take a look at "Part 1: Culture" and "Part 2: Unity!"

One of our goals at Fishhook is to make sure we are doing everything we can so that our culture, unity, project management and resources are maximized. Our hope is that by being intentional about these four major categories we can create a fun and effective atmosphere that benefits both our team and our clients.

We also want you to have a team atmosphere that feels intentional and effective. With this in mind, we’ve asked a few Fishhookers to unpack some of our processes and experiences so that you can use them to help maximize your team culture, unity, project management and resources.

PART 3: Maximizing Your Team Project Management - (the organization and processes that help your team get things done efficiently and effectively)
Fishhook Expert: Lindsay Dudeck - Communications Strategist
Leader. Organizer of chaos. Daring greatly. Former Parks & Rec communications director. Wife. Mommy. Foodie. Faith and life explorer.

What do you love most about maximizing your team’s project management?
Making order out of chaos and putting boundaries to the bound-less.

Outline 3 ways Fishhook works to maximize the team’s project management.

  1. Time tracking (Freshbooks)
  2.  Project management lists (Basecamp)
  3.  Hard/difficult conversations about workload.

Which of these 3 do you feel is most important and why?
Time tracking. If we don't know how much time something takes or should take, we would all work at different paces/rates with no sense of accountability, boundaries or limits. It's just like keeping personal financial budgets for self-care and healthy living.

How does maximizing project management affect the team's ability to build culture?
When you know what's expected of you in a time and money scope, you have a better idea of how to plan and work through your day. Therefore, you're hopefully not always stressed or tightly wound because you have an idea of the actual workload.

How does maximizing project management affect the team's ability to increase unity?
We build in time for individual creativity and development, as well as time for creative group-think and imagining. We create space for research, planning, development, etc. so all aspects of a project are efficient and unified. Additionally, each implementer (designer or web programmer) has a project manager who will protect and preserve the Fishhook process and culture, as well as the best interest of the client.

How does maximizing project management affect the team's ability to also maximize their resources?
Because we keep track of all of the details of a project, as well as the client's budget and expectations, we know how to gauge what is within/without of reason for additional resources needed.
