We had so much fun at our June webinar and hope everyone walked away feeling empowered to write better and to teach those around them to write better. Join us on July 29 for our next webinar, Once Upon a Website: The Story of Your Analytics.

We were so excited by the number of people signed up for this webinar, but, we could not have prepared ourselves for the level of interaction we had! We were incredibly blessed by the questions and insights our group brought to the discussion today. We hope everyone walked away feeling empowered to write better and to teach those around them to write better.

Here are some of the key principles we talked about:

  1. Provide essentials/next steps: Always make sure your content provides the necessary information so your reader knows exactly where to go or what to do next.
    • Think about: What is the call to action?
  2. Keep it simple and clear: Be intentional about about word choice, about trimming, about writing for the intended audience. Make sure your content is accessible.
    • Think about: The average American reads at a ninth grade reading level.
  3. Use Visual Language: Help your audience hear, see, taste, feel the language you choose.
    • Think about: The feeling behind your word choice, sentence length and paragraph structure.
  4. Add Love: The best writing, like the tastiest food, is created with love. Be present in your writing. Be yourself. Be kind, be caring, be aware of who your audience is and how you want them to feel.
    • Think about: Who is your audience? How can you connect with them on their level?

Here are some resources to help you write content that connects!
