We pulled some bulletin announcements that are "accidentally humorous" to help illustrate that sometimes writing can get funny when you don't double check to make sure what you're trying to say is actually what you're saying.

Let's face it ... writing is hard. Creating content day after day often feels like climbing mountain after mountain. Slip ups happen. Typos, miscommunication, factual errors, these things are the loose stones that catch us off guard.

Paying attention is key, and while it is impossible to see every loose stone before you take your next step, it's important to look closely, carefully and always, always double check.

The words you use truly matter. Whether it's signage, website content, sermon slides, your Sunday bulletin or anything else, your words are a huge part of how your visitors, and even your members, perceive your church's competency and credibility.

It's good to take an outside look at the content you're producing and the way you're writing. Sometimes what you think is humorous doesn't come across that way ... and sometimes the things you don't mean to be humorous are what your congregation ends up chuckling over.
