About Fishhook

We’re a creative communications team based in Indianapolis, Indiana. We’ve been helping churches innovate, create and communicate for 21 years. We’re strategists, designers, developers, spouses, parents, thinkers, tinkerers and whole people. We show up as whole people and fully believe in the local church.

Our clients include small, rural churches and multisite megachurches (and everything in between). We have many clients located throughout Indiana, the Midwest and across the nation. We’re inspired and energized by looking for possibilities in every person, church and circumstance.

About the Position
  • The Digital Specialist strategizes with Fishhook’s Account Directors (and the full Fishhook team) to understand and guide our churches with their digital strategy based on their audiences, goals and needs. For the Digital Specialist, this involves helping plan, coach and implement a variety of tools/tactics with our team’s involvement and support for our churches.
  • This person is energized to help our churches think through their digital strategy and help develop tools and online ministry content to engage and build relationships with others.
  • The Digital Specialist helps lead with: website strategy and content marketing with SEO, Google Ad Grants management, paid and organic social media campaigns/efforts, and ongoing data analysis, tracking and coaching. This involves projects such as:
    • Helping our clients assess the success (and opportunities for growth) of their digital efforts through ongoing data reporting and analysis - using tools like Google Analytics, social media analytics, podcast, email marketing and other marketing tools.
    • Working with Account Directors and the Fishhook Design and Digital/Web team to develop custom and templated websites for our clients. The Digital Specialist helps us recommend the content organization/navigation for the site, messaging and key words, and other SEO efforts.
    • Providing ongoing support for landing page development, SEO-focused content updates and ongoing website and SEO management
    • Performing SEO audits that report on errors and opportunities with on-page, technical and off-page SEO. Then, support our clients by applying these SEO updates.
    • Applying for and setting up Google Ad Grants for our churches, then providing ongoing support and Google Adwords management.
    • Placing and monitoring paid media campaigns for our clients using Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager (as well as others).
    • Set up email workflows and other personalized marketing campaigns using tools like Rock RMS, HubSpot, Constant Contact, MailChimp and others.
    • Collaborating closely with Account Directors to develop and execute digital marketing plans for our clients.
    • Helping drive Fishhook’s own marketing efforts and strategies to include: supporting our SEO-focused marketing content, website maintenance with SEO, paid and organic social media efforts, and ongoing data monitoring. This would be in close collaboration with our Business Development Director and our internal marketing team.
About You

We’re looking for a strategic and technical collaborator who brings a humble, hungry spirit. This person has digital expertise and is a lifelong learner who wants to continue growing and will live out our Fishhook values. In the years to come, you will continue helping our team evolve our digital services based on advancing technology/trends and what our churches need to connect and engage with their audiences.

We anticipate that you would bring at least 1-3 years of experience (could be internships, roles/related work throughout college, etc.) to this role. You might have served in the past as a digital coordinator, marketing analyst, SEO specialist, social media manager, website manager (or something similar) at a communications/marketing agency, school/university, another kind of non-profit, church or company.

You’re looking for a full-time opportunity (40 hours/week), with some travel that is occasionally overnight and on the weekends (could be several times each year).

You are self-motivated, organized and energized by managing multiple projects and developing new digital services and processes to energize our churches and ministries. You see possibilities when unforeseen circumstances arise and will support our teammates and churches well through that.

You are eager to work with a collaborative creative communications team - both through our clients and with our Fishhook team. We are a group of strategists, designers, web developers and digital strategists.

About Pay and Benefits

We have a flexible work environment and encourage everyone to create a daily rhythm that helps them do great work. You’re a person first, employee second. We work diligently, but make space for our time with family, friends, your church and community.

We embrace a hybrid work rhythm. We have core office days on Mondays and Wednesdays when our local team is in the office - this includes important face-to-face time and impromptu conversations about life and our work. Everyone typically works from home or coffee shops the other days of the week.

We work hard, pray often with each other and our clients, and love some buffoonery too. Sarcasm in Slack, friendly games as a team, and snacks are a highlight in our work together. Our office suite on the northwest side of Indianapolis is located within a collaborative space/community made up of people and organizations committed to making positive, life-changing impact.

Salary is competitive, paid time off and other benefits are provided as well.
