I have lots of conversations with church leaders about their communications struggles, and it’s not uncommon for those conversations to turn into the opportunity for the Fishhook team to go to work. But not always.
Sometimes it’s a matter of timing, priorities, fit or a variety of other reasons. I’m okay with that. I’ve learned to be content with not “winning” them all. I’ve also learned that God has gifted others in similar areas, and sometimes they are the better solution for a particular congregation.
What causes me deep sadness, though, is when a church leader says they desperately want to work with Fishhook, but they can’t afford us. They tell me they are deep in debt and shallow in giving. They talk about being behind on budget and simply at a loss as to why their people won’t give. This makes me sad – because it means that in many ways, this church is hemmed in and hampered.
When I encounter this, I typically recommend that these churches talk to the team at Generis, as they have proven approaches to releasing the generosity within congregations and a team who loves Christ and serves His Church.
Still, these congregations often give a response that is one of defeat, “Yeah, that would probably be good.” Yet they don’t act.
So, to all those churches who struggle in the area of giving (and even to those who are strong) – we have partnered with Generis to provide a FREE resource, “So Much More – a guide for planning and communicating your church’s year-end giving effort.”
Fishhook provided the layout and design, while Generis’ Brad Leeper provided the content. It's rich and meaty. This resource is a practical, step-by-step guide – and the time to get it and get on it is now! As you work the plan for a year-end giving effort, you’ll be learning in ways that will impact your church year ‘round.
Thanks Brad and Generis for all that you do for the Church – and for the opportunity to collaborate on this FREE resource! It’s good to work with like-minded and like-hearted people.
