Your Website is a Ministry Tool, Not Just a Piece of Technology

Written by Shayla Kenworthy | September 17, 2025
If you're heading to the Rock RMS Conference (RX2025) this fall, there’s one conversation you’ll hear often: “How can we use Rock to better connect with our people and engage new ones?”

At Fishhook, we believe your website is one of the most powerful ministry tools you have to do just that. But creating a site that truly serves your church's mission requires more than just great tech. It takes story, strategy and creativity (bonus if you have a partner that deeply understands the church!).

Your website isn’t just a digital hub for information. It’s your welcome mat. It’s where someone decides whether they’ll visit your church. It’s where people weigh whether they will fit in and be accepted ... or not. It’s the place people go when they’re wondering, “What’s next for me?”. It’s truly an extension of your ministry.

That’s why our team is so passionate about building every custom website rooted in each church’s DNA. We want to help tell your distinct story with clarity and creativity. And use platforms like Rock RMS that can scale with your ministry.

So how do we do it? Here’s a little BTS of the Fishhook Website Process:

We lead churches through a proven (and fun!) process built around strategy and collaboration.

Phase 1 - Listen
We start by worshiping with your church (online or in-person). Then, we host discovery meetings, gather insights and get curious - asking questions to uncover your culture, audiences and the heart of your mission.

Phase 2 - Plan
We take what we heard and start building the blueprint - sitemaps, content outlines based on strategic keywords and functionality needs. We talk about visual direction, design goals and content strategies tailored to your community. Then, we help you think through how it all works together in your Rock RMS platform.

Phase 3 - Create
Design and development go hand-in-hand. We create fully custom page designs and program them in Rock. We build with real ministry needs in mind ... whether it’s integrating forms, dynamic events, giving, groups or other tools through Rock RMS.

Phase 3 - Celebrate
Launch day is our favorite! Confetti, candy and celebration from our team (and usually a surprise in your mailbox 🥳). We’ll train your team so you can continue to keep up with the strategy and technology confidently moving forward. Because we’re not just building a site. ... we’re helping you build momentum at your church.

Why This Matters for Rock RMS Users
We know Rock RMS is powerful — and sometimes overwhelming. That’s why we help churches think through:
  • How to use Rock’s features in meaningful and strategic ways.
  • What integrations truly serve your audience (and what to skip).
  • How to keep your site from looking too “techy” or impersonal.
  • How to design with ministry in mind, not just metrics.
Thinking About a New Website?
If you're attending RX2025, come say hi to the Fishhook team! We’ll be there connecting with church leaders like you who want to communicate more clearly and reach people more effectively. We'd love to hear your church's story and brainstorm a little. It's kind of our favorite thing.

Not sure where to start? That’s okay. Let’s talk
