Last week a few of us from Fishhook had the opportunity to be part of the RX25 Conference in Phoenix - a gathering focused on digital ministry, leadership and the opportunities available through Rock RMS.
Our team is always grateful for chances like this to travel together, connect with church leaders, and learn alongside others who are serving the Church. We came home encouraged, inspired and reminded of what really matters.
Here are a few highlights we wanted to pass along:
The mission of the Church never changes - helping people hear the Gospel, grow with Christ, and serve others. The methods and tactics (including digital ministry!) will continue to evolve, but they must always serve and support the mission.
Online platforms are powerful tools, but they’re not the end goal. Every digital touchpoint should create a pathway that invites people into authentic relationships and in-person community. That’s where discipleship and life-change happen.
One thing we were reminded of: there are many ways to accomplish the same goal in digital ministry. New features and tools are being released all the time, and it’s worth the effort to stay as current as possible so you can serve your people well and make the most of the opportunities available.
We were challenged and excited by the possibilities of action-oriented data, clean data integrity, and clear dashboarding/visualization. When ministry leaders can easily see the information they need - whether executive leaders, ministry directors or volunteer teams - they’re freed up to make better, more effective decisions.
Throughout the week, God surprised us with conversations that reminded us how much we all need encouragement. The enemy works hard to isolate, but the Spirit draws us together. One small but meaningful way we tried to do this was through giving out our Fishhook stickers—especially the ones that read: “You and your work matter.” Looking someone in the eye and speaking that truth to them was powerful.
We were reminded of the gift it is to travel with teammates, share great meals, connect with others (some that we rarely get to see in person), and even take in an LA Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks game one evening.
Were you at RX25? Or maybe you’ve been encouraged at another event recently. What’s God been teaching you? We’d love to hear from you!
