Church Comm Cohorts

The Great Lakes Region of the Wesleyan Church Cohorts

What is a Church Comm Cohort?

Small Church Cohorts are online groups designed for pastors and leaders serving in churches of 500 or less. This is a place where you can share current challenges, celebrate wins, encourage one another, gain new ideas, and reimagine ministry possibilities!

What impact will this help you bring to your church?

Church Comm Cohorts will help you:
  • Improve your communications approach
Perhaps more than ever before, your everyday ministry is inextricably linked to your communications efforts. How can you continue to live your church’s mission and values during this unique season of ministry?
  • Connect with your audiences
Who are the people you are in an ideal position to reach right now? How can you continue caring for your community and congregation on a weekly basis? How can you create messaging that will connect with those in need?
  • Connect with other pastors and leaders
Share ministry ideas and encourage one another in real-time as you face weekly opportunities and challenges. It’s a safe place to process and pray for one another.
  • Grow your online strategy
Which tools can best help you conduct ministry, provide teaching, and encourage others right now? What stats can best help you learn about the impact you’re making?
  • Engage guests and provide clear next steps
Our connection to God is so important, especially in this season. How can your congregation and newcomers be invited to connect with others and take the next step in their faith journey?

What does a Church Comm Cohort include?

Each Church Cohort will walk through our 5-session Church Comm 101 learning modules. Every session will include a video, group conversation and coaching from our team, plus follow-up resources/activities. Church Comm 101 includes the following sessions:

Session 1: Mission/Vision/Values

What is your church’s purpose in this unique season of ministry? How are you investing your resources? Your everyday messaging should be strategically moving your crucial mission forward. Learn how.

Session 2: Center-Stage Messaging

If you could communicate just one message to your congregation this weekend, what would it be? To be effective, all organizations have to make strategic communications choices. How do you determine your priorities on any given day? How can you make sure your messages are connecting with their intended audience? We'll help you prioritize messaging and reach the right people.

Session 3: Reaching Your Audience

Know WHO you are engaging with before you decide HOW to engage with them. Who are the people you are in an ideal position to reach right now? How can you grow connections with your community and congregation? We'll share what you need to know about your audience.

Session 4: Guest Connections

Many churches invest considerable thought and resources into inviting and reaching guests. So, once guests connect with your congregation in-person or online, what is their experience like? If you could, what would you notice through the eyes of your newcomers? We'll share a few clear steps you can take to create an inviting atmosphere of hospitality and connection.

Session 5: Social Media

Does your church’s online presence support your overall mission? How can you add interest and tell stories online? Which tools can best help you conduct ministry, provide teaching, and encourage others? What stats can best help you learn about the impact you’re making?
