My summer with Fishhook has impacted my life and my work tremendously. This group has been transparent and open with me throughout this entire experience, and I am grateful for all they have taught me but more importantly for the relationships I have formed.
God has made it clear that church communications is where I need to be. As I transition from my role as the intern at Fishhook to my new role as the communications coordinator with New Hope Presbyterian Church in Fishers, I feel confident and excited for my next step. While I pack up, I am reminded of all that I have learned this summer.
Here are my top 10 light bulb moments, in no particular order, from my time at Fishhook this summer:
- Web work is not my forte. I still have no idea what Ben and Shawn are talking about half the time.
- Work hard, play hard.
- Being silly inspires creativity. (Evan’s music, team lunches and team field trips come to mind.)
- One person cannot do what an entire team can do.
- Basecamp (project management tool) is a communicator’s best friend!
- Consistency is KEY.
- Creativity in ministry is a beautiful thing.
- Effort does not equal excellence.
- Stories compel action.
- Relationships were a priority to Jesus and they should be to us as well both in our work and our lives.
