My summer with Fishhook has impacted my life and my work tremendously. This group has been transparent and open with me throughout this entire experience, and I am grateful for all they have taught me but more importantly for the relationships I have formed.

God has made it clear that church communications is where I need to be. As I transition from my role as the intern at Fishhook to my new role as the communications coordinator with New Hope Presbyterian Church in Fishers, I feel confident and excited for my next step. While I pack up, I am reminded of all that I have learned this summer.

Here are my top 10 light bulb moments, in no particular order, from my time at Fishhook this summer:

  1. Web work is not my forte. I still have no idea what Ben and Shawn are talking about half the time.
  2. Work hard, play hard.
  3. Being silly inspires creativity. (Evan’s music, team lunches and team field trips come to mind.)
  4. One person cannot do what an entire team can do.
  5. Basecamp (project management tool) is a communicator’s best friend!
  6. Consistency is KEY.
  7. Creativity in ministry is a beautiful thing.
  8. Effort does not equal excellence.
  9. Stories compel action.
  10. Relationships were a priority to Jesus and they should be to us as well both in our work and our lives.
