Church leader - your work has never mattered more. And we know that can feel heavy. Here is our prayer for you this week.

On a recent trip to Tennessee, we rented a cabin with a beautiful mountain view that overlooked a small mountain town nestled among trees and winding roads. From our balcony, we could see a church steeple shining in the sun in the community’s center. I smiled when I saw it because it reminded me that God is always present no matter where I go, as is the local church.

While our church buildings' architecture has changed over the years, I love this symbolic visual of the church serving as a recognizable beacon of hope, an anchor within communities throughout our country. It is a place to find help and grow in faith, to gather for celebrations and deep grief, to encourage others and uncover our true worth, to give away what we have been given.

At Fishhook, we love the local church. And we know everyday ministry isn’t tidy or easy. This week, you are on our minds. We’re praying these three things for you and other church leaders. Will you join us?

  • May you be strong and courageous in all things. May God provide you with the strength and clarity to help you keep shining light in dark places.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9, NIV).
  • May your heart and mind be wholly focused on the things above, free from distractions, as you live fully into your purpose and lead your congregation boldly.
“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” (Colossians 3:1-2, NIV).
  • Be steadfast. Stay faithful and committed to love and the good you are doing in your community and the world. Your work has never mattered more.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9, NIV).

If we can pray with you, for you, or support you in any way, please let us know.
