Lindsay's thoughts on:
"White Space" by Denny Weinman.

We all need white space/margin in our lives. Oftentimes we don't make time for balance in our daily activities. Instead, we focus on our here and now, putting off "creative" time until we have time.

Weinman remind us that Scripture talks about white space in Psalm 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God." He wants and needs us to take a break, find some stillness and re-group so that we can create. We all understand the need for visual white space in a design and how it's an important element enabling the balance between positive (non-white) and negative (white) space. The same is true in our lives.

"We're not going to be effective at our job as creator and communicator if we're not communicating with the one who started it all," Weinman shares.

When I find myself running out of white space, the best way for me to regroup is to get away from the office. Whether it's heading over to Starbucks, not checking email/voicemail for a few hours, or even taking my dog for a walk in the middle of the day, the key is to get away! To be still. How do you find white space in your schedule?
