Make a plan for your social media and overcome some of the most common social media fears.

Do you ever wonder why you aren’t getting the social media engagement you hope for or expect?

There are likely many reasons why we all don’t get the engagement we hope for, but in general, we find two overarching themes rise to the top of the list:

1) You find social media boring or pointless.
When you're posting something on Instagram, do you even really want to? Do you care if people respond to it, like it or comment on it? Or do you feel overwhelmed, grouchy or negative about even having to make the post? If you feel negative about a specific social platform, or social media in general, chances are your audience is going to feel that. On the other hand, if you love posting on social media or at least really see the value, your posts will reflect that.

Think about all of the multi-level marketing on social media these days (think companies like It Works!, AdvoCare, Pampered Chef, etc.). If you know anyone who works for one of these companies, you know they post a lot, and many of us have probably found ourselves annoyed with them from time to time. But I admire one aspect of their work: the passion they clearly have! They believe in what they are promoting, and it comes through in their posts. There’s definitely a lesson here for other organizations.

AND/OR

2) You don’t have a strategy.
What are you posting and why? Do you just post something because it is Wednesday and you always post on Wednesdays? If you don't have a strategy behind why you're posting on a certain social media platform, then it's going to look like just another random post to your audience. And you're not going to know whether you were successful or not. It's kind of like throwing spaghetti against a wall. Some things will stick just organically, but if you are more strategic about what you’re doing, you’ll be able to calculate what’s sticking and why.

Maybe you find social media boring or pointless because you have some roadblocks up in your mind or some fears you haven’t flushed out yet. And you may not have a strategy because you don’t even know where to begin. We’ve created a resource that will walk you through some of the biggest fears we hear on a regular basis and five steps you can take to put together a social media game plan for your church.
