Struggling with writer’s block? Here are five tips that will help counter your writer’s block and allow you to finish strong!

Struggling with writer’s block?

We know how it feels when writer’s block sets in and you seem to be interested in just about everything ... except what you're writing about. Creating content can sometimes get overwhelming, especially if you feel as though you have covered anything that could possibly be written. Below you'll find five tips that will help counter your writer’s block and allow you to finish strong!

  1. Close your eyes. Sometimes physically tuning out your surroundings will help your mind focus on the task at hand and allow your imagination to soar with potential ideas!
  2. Change the scenery. Go somewhere else to gain new ideas and get a different creative perspective. There’s no shame in having to move around from time to time.
  3. Sleep on it. It doesn’t have to be perfect that day (hopefully). Taking a night to sleep on it helps you come back refreshed and renewed. You'll be able to write from a fresh perspective and the block in your head won't seem so daunting.
  4. Don’t get frustrated. It happens to everyone, and allowing your body to get anxious and overwhelmed can counteract all that you are trying to accomplish. Breathe. Remind yourself, “this won’t kill me.”
  5. Do something fun. It’s amazing to see how your attitude changes and your muscles relax when you just smile. Do some exercise. Drink your favorite beverage. Go out to dinner with friends. Laugh! Truth be told, your body doesn’t know the difference between a real smile and a fake smile, so sometimes we have to fake one until the real one comes.
