RX 2024 was another great success for Fishhook! This year, we brought four members of our team (Julie, Shayla, Leah and Jessica) to connect, learn and grow with the Rock community. We saw so much potential in how we can continue to leverage Rock RMS to support our churches in the name of God's Kingdom.
How We Were a Part
Our time at RX 2024 was filled with useful breakout sessions, connections with clients and making new friendships. As a team, we attended a total of 18 sessions on a variety of topics. Leah and Shayla oversaw our Fishhook booth in the lobby, networking and collecting funny Church Comms Fails stories for the chance to win an Amazon gift card for those who took part. At this year's event, we even hid tiny Jesus figures around the conference center for people to find and it was a hit!
Leah also spoke at a session called "Communicating Change: Bringing Clarity and Consistency During Staff Transitions and other Hard News." Her session was thoughtful and informative, and sparked several great conversations with those in attendance.
What We Learned
There is truly a wealth of knowledge represented in the Rock community. During the Rock Product Keynote, we had the chance to hear about the new features coming to version 17, including adaptive messaging, a learning management system and AI tools.
On the communications side of things, we learned a lot, including tips on building a sustainable blog content strategy and how to utilize Rock's reporting tools to inform church attendee's next steps based on collected data. On the web development side, we saw plenty of practical examples on how content channels, short-codes, workflows and personalization tools can be used to engage and equip church audience.
Takeaways From the Experience
Now that several weeks have passed since the Rock conference, it's a great time for others who also attended to think through your personal experience. What takeaways do you have from RX 2024? Which ones can apply to you and your staff team?
If you are a comms director, assess your overall content strategy and find what areas need to be changed or boosted in order to grow your reach. Then, team up with your web developers to build content and workflows into your Rock database or website.
If you are a developer, don't be afraid to get your hands dirty in the Rock sandbox and dive deep into reading the Rock manuals.
Rock RMS is so flexible and can be used in hundreds of ways. All you have to do is start testing! Experiment and see what sticks for your team and works well for your church. Remember, this work is all about humility, trust and collaboration!
Here at Fishhook, we're continuing to reflect on everything we experienced at RX 2024. It's evident that the Rock community is faithfully serving the Lord, a great group who is willing to learn and grow together. In that same spirit, we hope that our team can be a great resource for you as well!
If you need help planning or implementing new ways to leverage Rock RMS for your church, let us know! Our team would love to support you in those efforts.
