We don’t need to reinvent Jesus. We just need to represent Him—clearly, honestly and with hope.

Twelve years ago, I was giving a talk called “In Google We Trust” (we were really going for it!). It was all about one of the biggest cultural and digital shifts we’d seen in decades: Millennials were leaving the church in droves, turning to Google for life’s biggest questions. Trust in the church was fading fast.

Some of the stats were staggering. Barna reported in 2014 that 59% of Millennials raised in church had dropped out at some point.

So, for the last decade, we’ve been encouraging and equipping churches to meet people where they are with content that speaks to real struggles and offers real hope. Whether it’s the school drop-off line or the grocery aisle, ministry had to move into everyday spaces.

The Local Church and Gen Z

And now? New generational data is once again emerging. But this time … it’s really good news.

Fresh data is revealing a spiritual shift we haven’t seen in years. Gen Z is hungry for something more. Interest in Christianity is growing. Church engagement is ticking up. Unlike Millennials a decade ago, Gen Z isn’t walking away from faith—they’re running toward it.

But here’s the twist: they’re not coming for clever slogans or flashy production. They’re craving something deeper—peace, purpose and the real Jesus. The Jesus who flips tables, welcomes outcasts and offers rest for the weary.

The Table: Where Church Communicators Connect

That’s why we’re gathering for The Table on June 18—to unpack this generational shift and explore how churches can communicate in ways that actually resonate with Gen Z. This isn’t about chasing trends. It’s about embracing transformation.

And here’s the best part:
We don’t need to reinvent Jesus.
We just need to represent Him—clearly, honestly and with hope.
