Shortly after Fishhook started 22 years ago, something special was born: The Table.

 

It began with a simple idea—creating a space for church communications leaders to connect, share and grow together across the table from each other. These were the people managing websites, creating the weekly bulletins, organizing events and keeping their churches informed and inspired. And often, they were doing it all while feeling isolated and overwhelmed.

We wanted to bring them together.

At that first Table gathering, a handful of leaders met to brainstorm, plan and lend a listening ear to each other. They left encouraged, energized and with new ideas to take back to their churches. From that humble beginning, The Table grew into something much bigger.

For years, our Fishhook team loved hosting these roundtable events. We cherished the opportunity to create a space for growth and connection—where conversations were meaningful, ideas were practical and the friendships forged went well beyond the meeting room. And best of all, it was free for people to attend, making it accessible to anyone who needed it.

Then, like so many other things, Covid disrupted our rhythm. In-person gatherings weren’t an option anymore. We shifted to hosting a couple of virtual versions of The Table, but eventually we decided to take a break.

Well, that break lasted too long.

We've missed The Table. We've missed the energy in the room when church leaders share their “aha!” moments. We've missed hearing stories of struggles and triumphs. We've missed seeing the connections between people who realized they weren’t alone in their challenges.

And now, we’re ready to bring it back.

On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, The Table returns—and we couldn’t be more excited! This relaunch will focus on Easter, one of the most significant (and often overwhelming) seasons for church leaders. We’ll brainstorm creative ideas, share strategies for sustainable marketing and connect with others who truly understand the unique challenges of church communications.

We believe now more than ever that church communicators need a space to come together. The Table is that space—a gathering where you can share your stories, ask questions and collaborate with others who “get it.”
