Earlier this week, we hosted The Table, and it was one of those gatherings that reminds you why community matters so much in ministry.
The Table is designed for church communicators and ministry leaders who want to do their work with more clarity, confidence, and connection. It’s part roundtable, part workshop and part “oh good, it’s not just me.” And honestly, that last part might be the most important.
There’s something uniquely encouraging about being in a room full of people from different churches, all carrying similar challenges and working toward the same goal: helping others take meaningful next steps in their faith.
The Summertime Shift
This time around, our focus was summer discipleship and how churches can support faith practices in the middle of vacations, ballfields and backyard gatherings. Because let’s be honest: summer brings a different rhythm. Consistency and commitment can feel harder to come by.
But instead of pulling back or adding more, we’re encouraging churches to lean into a different approach: portable faith practices, clear next steps and sustainable weekly comms rhythms.
Our aim? Consistency, not complexity. We equipped attendees with a simple, realistic summer communications playbook, one that helps churches reinforce discipleship rhythms even when people are on the move.
Yes, There Was Summer Bingo
It wouldn’t be The Table without a little Fishhook buffoonery mixed in! We played Summer Bingo (Church Comms Edition) and included spots for:
- Shared a summer event on social media
- Planned or promoted VBS
- Created graphics for a summer sermon series
- Worked from a ballfield
- Communicated summer camp details
- Curated a summer playlist
We snacked on popsicles and ice cream and sent everyone home with sunscreen and bubbles. Because if you’re going to talk about summer ministry, you might as well embrace it!
If you weren’t able to join us or if you’re not local to Indianapolis, we'd love for you to join us on May 13 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. EST for the online version of The Table. Click here to sign up!
