Reflecting on 20 years at Fishhook, Leah shares her journey of balancing milestones and hardships and embracing God's unwavering goodness.

Last week, I celebrated 20 years at Fishhook.

Twenty years of God’s goodness. His care. His provision. His glory.

This journey has included many joys. Yet it's also included seasons of challenge or struggle. And often, there have been multiple stories or complexities happening simultaneously.

For example, my anniversary week started with a visit to my radiation oncologist. We were mapping out the 20 radiation sessions I’ll complete this summer as part of my healing from breast cancer, which I was diagnosed with earlier this year.

So last week, here I was - juggling family and work commitments, planning for radiation, and also celebrating this 20-year milestone.

We hold all of these things in life, don’t we?

  • The responsibilities God entrusts to us.
  • The difficulties that stretch and humble us.
  • And the celebrations that remind us of His goodness.

But how do we hold it all?

Here’s what I’m learning (or learning again) in this season:
  • Start with surrender. Each day, I begin with a simple prayer: God, I give you this day - its wonder and its weight. Please lead me.
  • Let others in. (And show up for them too.) We were never meant to carry things alone. I've been looking for how God wants me to be more vulnerable and open. I've invited more people to pray, support and walk with me in this season. And I want to walk with others to support them as well.

Through it all - and through the Lord - I am here for every part of the journey. His love, grace and hope sustain.

I want to share this, too: My breast cancer was caught early, and my doctors are so hopeful. I fully trust that I'm on my way to a full recovery.

As for Fishhook?

The adventure continues!

After 20 years, I'm (and we're) still learning more every day about God’s faithfulness and this calling to serve. Our team is growing - in strategy, creativity and care - so we can come alongside churches with renewed energy and purpose.

All so that more people can know the life-changing love, forgiveness and freedom of Jesus.

What a journey. God is so faithful. Thank You, Lord!

Friend - what are you carrying today?

Maybe it’s something difficult. Maybe it’s something beautiful. Or maybe, like so many, you’re holding both.  Whatever it is, I pray that God will meet you right where you are - with His strength, His presence and His peace.

Please reach out if I can pray with and support you more.
