How can you celebrate your church's mission? Here are 10 ways!

Looking for new ways to highlight your church's mission? Watch this video for our top ideas!

Your church’s mission statement is:

  • an explanation for who your church is and what you're doing in the community and world
  • a cause for your leadership to champion and the staff rallies around
  • a targeted focus for your leaders to come back to as they make decisions on teaching, ministry initiatives and programs

Here are 10 ways to highlight your church’s mission this week:

  1. Share a story during worship services that helps illustrate your mission and its eternal significance. Regularly give updates on how you’re reaching people in your church, community and world.

  2. Post photos and videos on social media, showing the impact of people at your church. Think succinct, compelling and shareable!

  3. Write an inspiring blog post about the life change happening through one of your ministries. Be sure to include photos.

  4. Make sure to weave the mission into all ongoing communications, from your website and print pieces to newcomer materials and emails. It should be easy to find and hard to miss!

  5. Challenge your staff, congregation and volunteers to know the mission, live it out and explain it to a friend.

  6. Make the mission a part of your staff’s everyday language in team conversations and meetings.

  7. Incorporate the mission into your building environments through signage, photography, screens, informational kiosks, banners, displays and more. Consider having a mission-centered space where members can see the latest highlights, impact and stories.

  8. Celebrate and share when you see examples of your church members living out the mission!

  9. Equip your church members with simple cards with your church name and website URL on them. Then encourage them to perform random acts of kindness and leave the card behind.

  10. Always capture stories of life change during mission trips and outreach initiatives, so you can share those moments with your congregation and illustrate how God is at work through your church.

However you choose to highlight your mission, it should be clear and consistent. Have fun and get creative with it!
